He was born in the family of Leona and Rolland Root. His mother was a housewife, and a teacher in the secondary school, while his father was a craftsman. He graduated the Vero Beach University in Florida, and his major was the art of performance and radio. After graduating the university he started working on the stage of the local theater and on the Broadway stage at the same time. He became famous after performing in a popular sitcom about the news on the radio, in which he is performing the role of the owner of radio station.
