Violante Placido is an Italian actress and singer. She was born in the beginning of May in 1976 in Rome. She was the daughter of an actor and main movie director Michele Placido and an actress Simonette Stefanelli, which is famous due to performing a role in “The Godfather”. Violante debut in a movie by Enzo Negroni “Jack Frusciante e uscito dal gruppo”. Since then she performed in more than ten movies, including “Fade to Black” which was directed by Oliver Parker. In 2005 she released an English language music album which was called “Don’t be Shy” and all the songs to it were written by her. After a successful music tour in which she saw the whole Italy, she decided to continue her music carrier and nowadays is working under her second album. She was nominated for a prestigious Italian award “David di Donatello” which is equivalent to the American Oscar award as the best actress of 2002. She was twice nominated for the “Silver Ribbon” award which was given by the Italian National Syndicate of Cinema Critics for the role in movies directed by Lucio Pellegrino. For this role she got the Weller Prize award on the Cinema Festival of 2002 in Venice. In 2008 on the same festival she got the Kino Prize award for the work in Claudio Kupellini’s movie “Lezzioni di Cioccolato”.
