Ariel Winter’s  mother tried to regain custody of the 15-year-old actress but failed. The Modern Family star is currently in the care of her 34-year-old sister Shanelle Grey after being removed from her mother’s care in October amid allegations of abuse.

TMZ reports that ”Chrystal filed documents recently asking to get her daughter back – after the court stripped her of custody last year — but the judge in the case refused … extending the temporary guardianship of Ariel’s older sister Shanelle instead.”

In a recent attempt to sort things out with her daughter, Ariel’s mother sent her flowers. This only made the young actress even angrier and she sent a text message to her brother Jimmy Workman. She wrote: ”Tell mom to NEVER send me flowers again. That’s retarded and INSANELY inappropriate. INSANELY. If she was thinking of me, she would’ve thought of my happiness in my life in the first place.”

Ariel previously said that moving in with her sister finally brought her happiness and stability. She said: ”My life is definitely more normal — and that’ll help me grow up like I’m supposed to. Sunday we have family dinner. It’s just a different experience for me because I have more of a family life. I’m really happy.”
