Splits are stressful – especially when they happen in the public eye. Even so, celebrity splits make all the headlines and the truth is they are not very uncommon. After all, it’s Hollywood we’re talking about. This year is no different, so here are the most notable celeb break ups of 2014 so far.
Emma Watson and Will Adamowicz
Emma Watson and Oxford student boyfriend Will Adamowicz quietly parted ways in the summer of 2013 but the news wasn’t made public until 2014. They met while Emma was studying at Oxford but kept their romance away from the cameras. A representative for the actress confirmed the break-up to The Mirror, saying: “Emma and Will separated last summer and are no longer in touch.”
Kelly Osbourne and Matthew Mosshart
Kelly Osbourne has ended her engagement to Matthew Mosshart in January. A rep for Kelly described the split as “amicable” and said the former couple “continue to have nothing but the utmost respect for one another.” Her spokesperson added to People: “Kelly is looking forward to a new year full of fresh beginnings.” The couple became engaged in 2012 but waited until 2013 to make the news public.
Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie
The Lizzie McGuire star stunned fans in January by revealing that she and Mike had decided to part ways after three years of marriage and one child, Luca. A rep for Hilary Duff told People the split was “amicable”, adding: “They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son and ask for privacy at this time.”
Katy Perry and John Mayer
Pop star Katy Perry has ended things with boyfriend John Mayer in February. Perry’s busy schedule was stated as the reason. “She’s stressed about the tour, they’ve been fighting,” a source said. “It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course this happens all the time, I can’t keep track anymore. But for now they are done.”
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton
In February those high school sweethearts announced their separation after nine years of marriage. In a statement, Paula Patton confirmed the breakup, saying, “We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.” The couple long dodged rumors of infidelity and sources close to the couple say their split came as no surprise. “It is not a shock to Robin or Paula, and it is something they have discussed for a long time,” a source told Us magazine.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay front man Chris Martin, announced on 25 March that they were splitting. The couple, who married in December of 2003, have two children: 9-year-old Apple and 7-year-old Moses. Paltrow announced the split on her personal website in the form of a joint statement, which read: “It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.”
Naya Rivera and Big Sean
In April, Glee star Naya Rivera and hip hop artist Big Sean called off their engagement and wedding amid rumors that Big Sean was cheating. Big Sean denied the rumors, saying he made the decision to call off the wedding weeks ago because Rivera was controlling and jealous of women he worked with and met on tour. The split got even nastier when Rivera accused Big Sean of stealing from her, saying on Twitter , “@bigsean stealing rolexes from a lady’s house now. Maybe cuz I’m on Glee and making more money or something. #triflin”
Adriana Lima and Marko Jaric
Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima announced her split with former NBA player Marko Jaric earlier this month. The couple has been married for five years and has two children. Lima and Jaric said: “After long and careful consideration, we have decided to separate after five years of marriage…We are grateful to be the parents of two incredible young daughters that we will continue to co-parent. We would greatly appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy as we begin this delicate next chapter for all members of our family.”
Why would John Mayer finally settle down with Katy Perry after all of his womanizing in recent years? She’s obviously beautiful, successful and seems to respect the guys musical talents but how can you really trust him? She’s in a tough situation that’s for sure
You forgot to mention Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. They can’t last much longer. They’re spending more and more time away from each other for months at a time (which they always said they’d never do). When they are photographed together the body language is terrible. I predict they will be kaput in 2014.
Well actually this article is not quite true, as I know for sure that one of the couples listed in it has got back together. I am talking about Hillary Duff and Mike Comrie. I remember I saw it on the news, they were speaking their story, well recently they went to some vacation with each other and their child, and while being on that vacation they were able to settle all of the disputes which were telling them apart and they were even able to fall in love with each other again, though maybe they didn’t fall in love again but simply in a relaxed and calm atmosphere were able to remember everything that they have felt for each other before, I know for sure that something like that is really possible and happens, all that it is needed is to relax and try to remember the good things that you used to have together and the reasons why you fall for each other.
In this article the only person I feel sorry for is Robin Thicke, as his wife, all hopefully the ex wife (I mean the worst case if they will get back together) she is acting like a real bi**h, for me it is pretty obvious that Robin has done everything he could in order to make this relationship work and in order to keep their family, while everything she was doing was telling him how wrong he is in everything he does, well that is life and we all do mistakes, but we are people and of course it is in our power to save everything and to make it work, but to make it possible there are two people needed, two united people, as this is what family means, unfortunately in their family was only one person who tried.
Sometimes for the sake of the carrier and great future of an actress or actor, people stop carrying about more important things, they give up on each other, and after many, many years when they turn their back to the things they did, they start regretting. Hopefully it will not happen to Emma Watson, as she has chosen her carrier of a star instead of choosing her feelings for Will, so now she is famous and has millions of fans, but what is the use of this fame if she still wakes up alone and there is no one there for her, who would make her feel happy and special.
