Celebs who removed their ex-lover tribute tattoos

Tattoos are generally meant to be permanent, so having them removed is not an easy job. This is exactly why people should really think things through before getting inked. Having a lover’s name permanently embedded into your skin is probably one of the worst ideas ever and many people have regretted it. Here are the celebs who had a lover’s name tattoo removed or altered once the relationship ended.

Melanie Griffith

Less than a month ago, Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas announced that they would split. Ever since she debuted the tattoo at the 1998 Mask of Zorro premiere, Melanie has proudly displayed her now estranged husband’s name on her arm. She’s now getting the tattoo removed, at least according to the Daily Mail , which published photos of the star leaving a Los Angeles tattoo removal office.

Eva Longoria

The actress celebrated her marriage to basketball player Tony Parker with three tattoos marking the occasion. The first, a giant “NINE” on the back of her neck, was a reference to Parker’s jersey number; the second, a small “07-07-07” on her wrist, was the day the couple were wed; the third, Parker’s initials, is hidden somewhere on her body. After the couple divorced in 2010, Longoria waited two years, then got them all removed.

Angelina Jolie

Back when she was married to Billy Bob Thornton, Angelina tattooed “Billy Bob” across her left arm. After divorcing Billy in 2003, she had it removed and replaced it with the coordinates of her kids’ birthplaces. “I’ll never be stupid enough to have a man’s name tattooed on me again,” she said at the time.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry once had her first husband Dave Justice’s name tattooed on her butt cheek. When their marriage ended she had to get a restraining order against Justice. She went on to have the tattoo re-inked into a sunflower.

Johnny Depp

Once upon a time, Depp had “Winona Forever” tattooed on his arm while dating Winona Rider. The couple broke up in the early ’90s. In 1994, Depp had the last two letters of Ryder’s first name removed, creating the motto “Wino Forever.” As he told Playboy, the new tattoo is “actually a bit more accurate.”

Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards

When Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards were married they both got tattoos of each other’s names. Denise had “Charlie” tattooed onto her ankle and Charlie had “Denise” tattooed onto his left wrist. When they got divorced, neither did anything about their tattoos until Sheen got engaged to former adult movie star Brooke Mueller. Then Sheen removed Denise from his wrist and Denise had the Charlie on her ankle turned into a fairy.

Adrienne Bailon

Adrienne Bailon regrets what she did while dating Rob Kardashian – she had his name tattooed on her butt. She said: “It’s awful. Ten letter last name…it’s pretty bad,” she said. “Now that is a ratchet tattoo…all bad…Booty tattoos,  names of other men: ratchet. Don’t do it!”

Marc Anthony

Marc Anthony removed Jennifer Lopez’s name from his wrist before he even filed for divorce, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He has since replaced the tattoo with a picture of the Statue of Liberty and his girlfriend Shannon De Lima’s name.

Heidi Klum

Model and reality show host Heidi Klum removed the name of her former husband Seal from her arm last year, according to People. The tattoo consisted of singer Seal’s name followed by three stars with their three children’s initials in them. Klum filed for divorce in April 2012 after seven years of marriage.

Pamela Anderson

When Pam Anderson married Tommy Lee, she had his first name tattooed on her ring finger instead of wearing a ring. However, the couple divorced and the actress had the name changed to say “Mommy.”
