Legendary movie star Mickey Rooney died on Sunday night. He was 93.
The Hollywood veteran was born in Brooklyn, NY and began his career in 1921, at 17 months, in his parents’ vaudeville show. When he was only 7 years old, Rooney appeared in his first film, launching one of the longest movie careers in history.
He received four Academy Award nominations and won two honorary Oscars, one in 1938 and another in 1983 for contributing to the entertainment industry for over 50 years.
Rooney’s personal life was as exciting as his career. He was married eight times and had nine children and nineteen grandchildren.
I left TV on last night, (well like I do everyngiht(, but I must’ve woken….because I had a dream, my husband and I were at a water park, our kids on tow, we were waiting to go down a slide, we met with another family, and they said..we cant wait till tonight…Mickey Roony is having a show in the theatere…..I looked at my husband and said, I think he’s dead..my husband said, HE died today..this man broke down like a baby.. it was really weird. 1. because why would M.R. be doing in act at a waterpark..but why would a family be going to his show, dressed in swimsuits and having tubes on……. I love old movies, and old movies always connected me to my now gone parents…so this is another ‘death’ for me…RIP Mickey.
What a brilliant actor!! Most people my age wouldn’t even know who Mickey Rooney was, which is so unacceptable given this great man’s contributions to in entertainment. One of the last great entertainers of our time… there will never be another… like there will never be another Judy… I know they are both together now. Rest in peace, sir.
