Actor Ian Somerhalder, who is also an activist, has made the decision to stop accepting fan letters via mail as he wants to make a contribution to saving trees. However, this does not mean that The Vampire Diaries star will stop communicating with his fans. He has set up a special email account for everyone who wants to write to him. The actor is encouraging his fans to use this email instead of paper.

Ian wrote on his Twitter: “Good news/bad news! Bad first – I will no longer be accepting mailed-in paper fan mail. Good news is I want to find a way to Really connect with you & written mail is too hard to keep up with and a Drain on our earth’s resources. Email me [email protected] and I’ll do my best to read as many as possible, write back whenever I can & possibly surprise you”.
