Dallas Buyers Club has received six Academy Award nominations and Jared Leto, who plays Rayon, a transgender woman with HIV, is in the running for the Best Supporting Actor prize.
In an interview on BBC Radio 1, he said that he is ”amazed” by his Oscar nomination.
”I feel like this is insane and amazing – I feel like the luckiest person in the world. It’s a really special story and I feel proud to be a part of it,” the actor admitted.
Leto also explained that he put his acting career on hold for over six years because he wanted to focus on music as well as that he wasn’t interested in making movies until he read Dallas Buyers Club script.
He said: ”It took six years for this to come to me. I wasn’t looking to make a film but I ended up reading the script and fell in love with it. I don’t want to sound like a jerk right now but someone told me yesterday that I’ve won over 30 awards for it already. I didn’t even know there were 30 awards to win. The big ones were the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards recently.”
Jared Leto is simply an amazing actor. I wish to see him in their role. I need to find or buy this movie! A transgender female is very interesting amplua. I am not surprise, unlike Jared himself that the movie and he has got so many awards for his role. This is something new and something refreshing and I am really interested to watch the movie – it has intrigued me.
