Winning an Oscar is a great honor and almost every actor’s dream, but it is also a huge responsibility.
Jennifer Hudson, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her very first film role in 2006 musical drama Dreamgirls, is aware of the responsibility and she admits to feeling some sort of pressure.
She earned the prestigious award at the early stage of her career and she feels she has to be great in every role she plays because of that.
Hudson told the Metro: ”When I did Dreamgirls, nobody was paying attention to me so I had nothing to prove. Now, I’m the ‘Academy Award winner, Jennifer Hudson’, so everybody is watching.”
Jennifer rose to fame thanks to singing competition ‘American Idol’ back in 2004 and she believes that embracing her singing talent is what gave her sucessful acting career.
She explained: ”For me, music is always there. Music connects me to my emotions. Someone once told me that singing is my gift and acting is my reward for using my gift. God chose to bless me with an acting career because I honoured the gift of singing that he gave me.”
I am happy for Jennifer and her success. Yes, she is right, it is also a responsibility. Still, I believe there is no role she won’t cope with; there are just those that require more effort on her side. I also hope that music helps her much and will be leading her through the singing and acting professional way. I wish her even more success in future and excellent movie roles to spoil us, her fans!
