Madonna slams Lady Gaga in new song
Drugstore chain Duane Reade Inc. used Katherine Heigl’s photo for marketing purposes without her permission and the actress is now suing the company for $6 million.
On their Twitter account Duane Reade published a photo of Katherine carrying two bags with their logo, with the caption: “Love a quick #DuaneReade run? Even @KatieHeigl can’t resist shopping #NYC’s favorite drugstore.”
The photo was taken by paparazzi during Heigl’s visit to the store in March.
“The Heigl photograph is a typical paparazzi shot, depicting plaintiff walking on the street in New York City, in a private moment looking away from the camera,” the lawsuit says. “Use of plaintiff’s image under these circumstances improperly exploited plaintiff’s name and likeness, as a celebrity, for defendant’s commercial advertising and purposes of trade, without authorization.”
I’m no fan La Heigl, but I agree with her 100% on this one!. … e.g., every week we see pics of celebs shopping at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc., but that doesn’t mean they can use a Pic for Advertising. … They messed up — now they’ve gotta pay up.
She needs to get over herself!!! This is just adding to the list of why she will never work in Hollywood again! Come to think of it I cant think of one product or service that has used her for anything in years!!!!!!
I use to like Katherine so much when she was first on Grey’s. Then when she pulled that stunt with the writers, I really didn’t like her anymore and was glad when she left Grey’s. It’s sad that she thinks she’s a bonafide star when she really was/is only a flash in the pan. With this lawsuit she is cutting off her nose to spite her face and will lose even more roles. She thinks far too much of herself and needs to just slink back into the abyss. No one cares anymore.
Though, I am not such a huge fan of Catherine Heigl, mostly due to the fact that I consider her as a stupid woman for the things that she is saying or doing, and I hate her duck type of walking, but still she is right. That is her private life, so what if she is buying things from that drugstore, it doesn’t mean that she has to be exposed while doing that. Next time she won’t be able to go there, as a huge crowd of fans will be expecting her. And from the other side, what if she had made a bad choice with the drugstore, it means that hundreds or thousands of people would do the same thing, but the only difference would be that now it will be her fault?
Good job, Catherine, everyone is supposed to pay for everything, I am sure that drugstore chain company is not that small and really has money in order to pay all of its commercials, but they have decided to skip that subject for some reason, and here is their payback. And now from the other side, the fact that Heigl has sued them now appears in all type of articles, which is again a source of advertising for them. I have no idea who is their marketing manager, but he or her is doing a great job, and at the lowest possible cost for the company, now everyone will know about that chain of drugstores, hell yeah, even I know about them now.
I am wondering what is wrong with Catherine Heigl if she is buying two large bags of medicines, is she sick or something? And why do people care so much about the fact at which store she bought her medicines, why don’t they think about the reason she had in order to do that. I really love “Grey’s Anatomy” TV show, and felt really terrible and sad when she left it. That is why I am wondering, what is wrong with her, maybe she has same time of sickness as Izzy had. Awe I am very sad for her now, and I do hope that she will win the court against those bad people who have used her name without her agreement.
