‘Kick-Ass 2’ producer Mark Millar responds to Jim Carrey

jim-carrey-2013jpg-cc495b91ef76425f Mark Millar, producer of Kick-Ass 2, has responded to Jim Carrey’ tweet in which the actor says he cannot support the film due to its ”level of violence”. He praises Carrey’s performance but says he is baffled by the actor’s statement in which he withdrew support of the film.

Jim, who plays Colonel Stars and Stripes in the film, criticized the level of violence in the movie in the wake of the tragedy in Connecticut school last December.

kick-ass_2_colonel_starsMillar replied to this on his website, saying that Carrey was aware what kind of movie he had signed up for. He said: ”As you may know, Jim is a passionate advocate of gun-control and I respect both his politics and his opinion, but I’m baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay eighteen months ago. Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called ‘Kick-Ass 2’ really has to do what it says on the tin. A sequel to the picture that gave us Hit-Girl was always going to have some blood on the floor and this should have been no shock to a guy who enjoyed the first movie so much.”
