3rd Rock From the Sun star Kristen Johnston has revealed that she suffers from rare autoimmune disorder which causes severe muscle weakness.
The actress has been struggling with the illness for several months but didn’t know what it was. She was finally diagnosed with “lupus myelitis”.
On her Facebook page, Kristen wrote: “I’ve put this off as long as possible, but it’s time for me to be upfront with you about something that’s been going on with me. I’ve been really, really sick since early September. Full body muscle weakness to the extent that just walking difficult, stairs impossible and I even need a neck brace to hold my head up.
“Lying down I’m fine, which is great for writing or killing time on social media, but it’s kind of disastrous when you’re in a sitcom that requires tons of physical comedy.”
Johnston had to miss two episodes of her sitcom The Exes because of the illness but she will soon be back on the show.
“My immune system has decided to go rogue & attack my muscles. The good news: I’m finally on the right treatment, feeling better & back at work,” the actress added.
Wow, so young and such a tough disease. I am happy to her that the doctor diagnosed the right illness and the reasons that caused it and that Kristen is getting the right treatment now. I am happy she goes on with working on sitcom and that she is getting better. I wish her complete and soon recovery. I like the hilarious The Exes.
