Marion Cotillard’s “year of prostitution”

156917232GG007_RUST_AND_BON In an interview with France’s Le Figaro, Marion Cotillard joked that 2013 has been her year of ”prostitution”. The actress played prostitutes in two movies this year – The Immigrant and Blood Ties.

She said: ”The characters prostitute themselves in order to survive. Both films took place at around the same time. Between that and the music video shot I for David Bowie, ‘The Next Day’, this year has kind of been my year of prostitution!”

Speaking about the atmosphere on the set of Blood Ties, which was directed by her boyfriend Guillaume Canet, Marion states she wasn’t nervous at all and actually enjoyed the experience of working with her long-term partner.

The 38-year-old beauty is best-known for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose. Although she didn’t like some aspects of the character, eventually she fell in love with Piaf. ”There were some aspects of Piaf’s nature that I liked less than others: she couldn’t stand being alone and would do some questionable things. But when I played her, I ended up loving her completely,” Marion added.

When I first read the title of the article I realized there was something wrong with the title. Just the name Marion Cotillard and prostitution do not come together in my mind. Now I realize that the article was about her roles in the movies. Marion is a very talented actress and she did great in both of movies. I am happy to see her happy with her boy friend and the ability of them to work together and gladden us with talented and interesting pieces of work. Thank you!
