Matt Damon: Batman is not King Lear

Cast member Damon poses at the premiere of "Promised Land" at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles The news that Ben Affleck has been cast to play Batman in Man of Steel sequel has sparked fan outrage with lots of negative comments on Twitter and a petition for the role to be recast.  “His acting skill is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne and he won’t do the role justice. He’s not built, nor is he intimidating enough for the role of Batman,” the petition says.

However, Matt Damon thinks that his friend Ben is great for the role. He said: “I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that… But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.”
