Most ridiculous celebrity arrests

It’s no longer surprising that celebrities are getting arrested. From DUIs and domestic violence disputes to drug possession, Hollywood’s biggest stars have been busted, arrested and booked for various crimes. Because of the public nature of celebrity lives, the details of their crimes almost always go public.  Some crimes are standard, but others are just ridiculous. We’ve gathered up some of the most interesting celebrity arrests.

Edward Furlong

Edward Furlong, an actor known for his roles in Terminator 2 and American History X, was arrested in 2004 for drunkenly freeing a tank of lobsters in Kentucky. According to The Smoking Gun, the 27 year old was also arrested for public intoxication because he reeked of booze when an officer tried to arrest him as Furlong and his friends were flinging the lobsters out of the lobster tank. Apparently Furlong began spinning himself into circles to thwart the officer from frisking him.

Nick Nolte

Nick Nolte was arrested in 2002 by the California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence. It was also found that he had traces of GHB — the date-rape drug — in his system. He later pleaded no contest to the charges of driving under the influence. We don’t know why GHB would be his drug of choice.

Randy Travis

Randy Travis found himself busted for driving after consuming alcohol, but what sets him apart is that he was buck-ass naked when the cops pulled him over. To top things off, the naked Travis then tried to attack the cops and threatened to kill them.

Shia LaBeouf

In November 2007, former Disney star Shia LaBeouf was arrested in downtown Chicago for lurking around a Walgreens around 2:25 am. For some reason the celebrity refused to leave the store, despite several requests from a security guard to do so. The guard called the police and LaBeouf was arrested on a misdemeanor count of trespassing. A year later, the Huffington Post reported that the entire arrest was all in the name of purchasing some cigarettes and pimple cream.

Hugh Grant

The British star was arrested in Hollywood in 1995 and charged with indecent conduct with a prostitute in a public place after meeting her on Sunset Boulevard.  Grant, 34, whose girlfriend at the time was Elizabeth Hurley, was arrested by vice squad police, who alleged that he drove up to a prostitute at about 1.30 am.

Matthew McConaughey

In 1999, Matthew McConaughey’s neighbor called the cops on him to report loud music booming from the famous actor’s home. According to The Smoking Gun, when the police arrived, they found McConaughey naked, stoned, and playing his bongo drums. The actor was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia.

George Michael

George was arrested in April, 1998, for engaging in a “lewd act” in a public toilet in Los Angeles, after which he ended years of speculation by announcing that he was gay. The undercover police officer “started playing this game,” Michael explained, “which I think is called, “I’ll show you mine, you show me yours,” which ultimately resulted in his arrest.

Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder was arrested for shoplifting in December 2001, for shoplifting $4,760 worth of items. She was charged with grand theft and for illegal possession of prescription drugs, though her attorney insisted that Ryder was not under the influence of the painkillers at the time. A year later, Ryder was sentenced to three years’ probation, 480 hours of community service, $3,700 in fines, and $6,355 in rest.

Ozzy Osbourne

In 1982, legendary Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne was arrested for urinating on the Alamo Cenotaph (a stone monument honoring the Alamo defenders) in San Antonio, Texas. He was wearing his wife’s dress at the time. City Council members were already upset about broken windows at the HemisFair Arena, and when he bragged about his arrest, they were infuriated. The incident resulted in a 20-year ban from the city.
