Following the reports about their split, Nick Cannon has confirmed that he and Mariah Carey are having problems and are living in separate homes.

The ‘America’s Got Talent’ host told The Insider: “There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months.”

Cannon didn’t want to discuss the details of the separation. “My main focus is my kids,” he added.

There has been a lot of speculation about the reasons behind the split. Some reports suggest that it is because of Nick’s infidelity. According to Page Six, Mariah believed that her husband was cheating on her so she hired bodyguards to watch over him at the parties he hosted in Las Vegas earlier this year.

A source said: “The security guard wasn’t there to keep the girls away from him. It was to keep him away from the girls.”

Other reports, however, claim that the money was the main issue. Nick allegedly couldn’t deal with the fact that Mariah’s fortune is much bigger than his.

“She has tried to get him to stay home more, but he always uses work as an excuse,” a source told E! News. “When she points out that, financially, he does not need to be working as much as he does, it pisses him off and pushes him farther away. He hates when people assume he’s living off her money.”
