Hollywood relationships are notoriously rocky – the stories of long-lasting love are rare. Apparently celebrities are especially susceptible to being married for very short periods of time (some of them lasted only a few days). It could be that the passions that make someone impulsive or maybe it’s something else. Anyway, here are some of the shortest celebrity marriages.

Years before her split with Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez spent a brief seven months married to professional dancer and choreographer Cris Judd. The pair got engaged only a few months after Lopez broke off her three-year relationship with P Diddy. Married in September 2001, the couple called it quits by June of the following year.

Shannen Doherty and Ashley Hamilton – 5 months

 

 

 

 

 

 

Doherty was one of the stars of the original Beverly Hills: 90210 at the time, while Hamilton, an actor, was best known as the son of uber-tan George Hamilton. They wed in September 1993, but six and a half months later called it quits, citing irreconcilable differences. A month later, Doherty’s character on 90210 was history as well.

Wed September 1995, split February 1996. This was serial monogamist Charlie Sheen’s shortest stint, which made it to about the four month mark. He might have infamously said he pays hookers to leave, and he probably paid this nice lady a healthy sum too.

The actress and the hunky country star tied the knot in 2005 and called it quits some even months later. But what raised eyebrows was Zellweger’s claim, in the legal documents, of “fraud” on the part of Chesney. Rumors ran wild that Chesney was gay. Renee explained that it was merely a legal term, but to this day some remain unconvinced.

After an on-and-off romance from 2001 to ’03, the couple rekindled their relationship in early July 2006. A few weeks later, they married in true rock-star style with Anderson in a white string bikini and Rock in a white T-shirt and baseball cap. But this marriage ended in November 2006.

The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s only daughter met Hollywood heavyweight Nicolas Cage at Johnny Ramone’s birthday party in 2000, sparking a romance. The couple married in a lavish Hawaii ceremony in August 2002. But by November, lovey-dovey headlines had soured, and Cage slapped Presley with divorce papers, noting that they “shouldn’t have been married in the first place.”

Drew was barely 19 when she married L.A. bar owner Thomas. The pair got married after a very brief courtship. But “29 days later” isn’t the name of a zombie movie, it’s how long they lasted before getting divorced.

The couple were married in Bora Bora, which is not legally valid in the United States, but planned to have an official ceremony stateside. Two weeks after the intimate island nuptials, they released a statement to People: “After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forego having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further. While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.”
