Have you ever wondered why celebs have bodyguards and spend serious money on security measures? Well, one of the downsides of fame is that one can become subject of some deranged person’s obsession, and lots of stars have had to deal with stalkers. Here are their stories.

In 2010, Jason R. Peyton traveled cross-country in a delusional attempt to marry Jennifer Aniston. Police found him with a sharp object, duct tape and love notes to the Friends star. Authorities said he was stopped after spending days trying to find Aniston on Sunset Boulevard.

Kim Kardashian

 

 

 

 

 

Kim Kardashian has a restraining order against a young man named Dennis Shaun Bowman who, in his pursuit of the reality television star, would show up to events she’d attend, sometimes in full Joker-face makeup. Bowman continues to tweet about her, once accusing her of using him for press: “Would you like to thank me? Tell everybody how I helped pay for your mansion?”

Alec Baldwin

 

 

 

 

 

Alec Baldwin’s stalker was a Canadian actress and publicist named Genevieve Sabourin. She insisted that the two had a romantic and sexual relationship. Baldwin testified that he had only met her once, and afterwards she had harassed him with repeated phone call and emails. She even showed up to an event he was hosting in his own home in Manhattan. Sabourin was sentenced to seven months in jail for aggravated harassment, stalking, and attempted criminal harassment.

In July 2011, actress Halle Berry was terrified after a man named Richard Anthony Franco was spotted trespassing on her property three days in a row. The man was booked on July 12 and was sentenced to 386 days in jail, with 193 days physically in jail and 193 days of work time/good behavior credit. He pleaded no contest to the charges and was also sentenced to 5 years of formal probation and must undergo psychiatric treatment. There is also a 10-year protective order for Berry. The actress was also stalked by a man named Greg Broussard, who believed himself to be her fiancé. He even sent an engagement ring to her manager’s office.

Ellen Page

 

 

 

 

 

Ellen Page’s stalker, Joshua Michael Myers, sent the actress death threats via Twitter, including “I’m going to murder Ellen Page. She’s Dead” and “Ellen Page if you continue to date Alexander (Skarsgard) I will K-1-L-L you in public in then next year. Be it in a club, in a restaurant, or when you’re signing autographs.” Page took the case to court and a judge ordered Myers to stay away from Page and not contact her in any manner for three years.

In February 2012, Robert Dewey Hoskins, who was convicted of stalking and making criminal threats against Madonna in 1996, escaped from a Los Angeles-area mental hospital and was apprehended by local authorities a week later. He was committed to the Metropolitan State Hospital in 2011 and previously served a 10-year prison sentence after he was convicted of stalking the pop superstar. The singer testified against the man, who was shot by her personal security after he jumped the fence of her Hollywood Hills home.

Mel Gibson

 

 

 

 

 

Zack Sinclair was sentenced to three years in prison in 2005 for stalking Mel Gibson . Sinclair was arrested in Sept. 2004 after violating a restraining order that banned him from going within 100 yards of Gibson’s Malibu compound where Gibson maintained a residence, children’s school and chapel. “My wife was upset and worried,” the actor said. “She didn’t want to find him in the living room drinking tea.”

On April 4, 2013, Jennifer Lawrence’s brother, Blaine, began receiving calls and text messages on his work cell phone from someone named Ted. Ted turned out to be Han Cong Zhao, a 23-year-old Chinese-born Canadian man who wouldn’t leave Blaine alone. He accused Jennifer’s family of putting her in danger and warned that if he wasn’t put in contact with her, bad things would happen. He soon traveled from Canada to Louisville, where Jennifer’s family lives, to contact her in person. He was taken into custody on April 19 after taking a taxi a nearby police department and asking for Jennifer’s mother’s home address. He was declared a “danger” by the judge on his case and denied bail during criminal proceedings.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

 

 

 

 

 

Dawnette Knight stalked and threatened Catherine Zeta-Jones multiple times between 2003 and 2004  after she claimed she was in love with Zeta-Jones’ husband, Michael Douglas. In a letter Knight wrote to Douglas, she said she was “going to slice [Catherine Zeta-Jones] up like meat on a bone and feed her to the dogs.”

Back in 2009, a 48-year old woman named Karen McNeil stalked Justin Timberlake. She was described as “obsessed and mentally unstable.”  She trespassed on Timberlake’s property three times, and on one occasion left a letter with “bizarre” content.  Timberlake was granted a three year restraining order against his stalker.

Paris Hilton

 

 

 

 

 

Paris Hilton has had a lot of stalkers. Nathan Lee Parada broke into Hilton’s home in 2010 with a knife and has been behind bars ever since. In 2011, James Rainford violated a restraining order Hilton had obtained and was charged with felony stalking. And just recently, in 2014, Lukas Redanz was arrested outside her gated community. He told the security guards that he was in love with her and had to see her.

Leonardo DiCaprio

 

 

 

 

 

Livia Bistriceanu claimed that she was married to Leonardo DiCaprio and that she was pregnant with his baby. DiCaprio got a restraining order against her after she repeatedly attempted to contact him and tried to gain access to his home. “Do you want to be with me for real and to be the father of Jesus? You know I’m a mother with Jesus and you saw His miracles,” Bistriceanu wrote in a 2008 letter. “Why don’t you wanna be with Him, His father? If you don’t want me and Him, you’re going to Hell. I love you, but if you don’t answer to my love, I must go for somebody else. I don’t have time to wait anymore.”
