The Expendables 3 will be released in August and while Sylvester Stallone is very proud of his upcoming film, he couldn’t help but comment on the stigma of action movies, saying they deserve to be received as well as dramatic movies. He also pointed out how difficult and dangerous it is to make an action film.
Speaking to IGN, Stallone said: ”Everyone has this conjecture that action films are somewhat less prestigious than dramatic films. Nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve done them both and this is hard and dangerous. I mean, Jason Statham nearly drowned to death – lucky he’s a great swimmer. All of us would’ve been walking on the bottom of the Black Sea by now – well, not really walking, probably floating – and that’s some serious stuff. Things happen here.”
Stallone also said that he wanted to make the film an event similar to the Marvel’s Avengers franchise.
“The hardest thing is to find an action star. I don’t give a damn what anyone says, stars they come and go,” he said. “An action star, you can count on one hand. Or, given the size of this cast, presumably two or three. So to get them together is an event. That’s the key word. We’re trying to make an Event Movie – like The Avengers. And I think we’ve accomplished it.”
This is Stallone remember so there’s no point even putting on the Barry Norman hat.
Everyone knows it will be crap as crap can be, and yet – even if we wait till it hits HBO – we will watch it.
Stallone is a very shrewd dude and not the meathead he appears.
Copland was possibly his best performance – and why not?
Steven Seagal probably didn’t want to appear in this movie because he is a Buddhist and is quoted as saying that it is his ‘mission in life to promote peace throughout the world’. He has so far starred in films such as ‘Hard to Kill’, ‘Exit Wound’, and ‘Half Past Dead’. Buddha’s name be praised!
“He’s going to feel real pain!” There’s a cliche if ever I heard one. I bet there are loads of them like that in the film. I wonder how many kills there are in the first hour? Old school action hero movie blockbuster mayhem.
My brother went to the premier and he hasn’t stopped smiling since then. Man I can’t wait to see this movie!
Well I think it is about the time for Sylvester Stallone to finally grow up and start having a normal life where not everything is spinning around action and shooting. He became famous due to participating in all the parts of the “Rambo” I mean there were other successful projects where he appeared of course but that one was the most amazing one. So as it happens to some other actors, he got stuck in one single role, and it became difficult for him to switch to some other genre, like for example I loved him most of all in the movie where he is a bodyguard. He looked some brutal and masculine that I felt the strong desire of having same kind of man in my life, who would defend me and for whom I would be the most important thing in life. Isn’t it something that all the people should tend for? I guess it really is. And hopefully Jason Statham is ok, as I wouldn’t be able to go through that easy if something would happen to him.
Hmm, I think “The Expendables” have became already same thing as the “Fast and Furious”, sometimes it is just the right time to stop doing something before screwing it up, and try doing something completely new. One of my favorite actors is the famous French actor Jean Reno. So my point is that I admire this actor so much due to the fact that he is able to be completely different in all kind of movies. He can be a brutal killer in one movie (I mean “Leon”), and at the same time he can be a kind teacher in “The Couples Retreat”, or he can be a wise and caring father in “Wasabi”, and so on, my point is that he is able to be different and is not stuck in one and unique genre, that is a speaking about his personality fact. I would love to see more American actors of this type. Who would be strong enough, both physically and emotionally, in order to be able to do that?
I cannot wait to see the release of the movie, I loved the previous two parts, and my son loved them as well, so can’t wait to take him out for the third part, I am sure he will totally freak out about it. This movie is an action one, but at the same time it has a lot of scenes where you are laughing out hard, and it is very important to be able to do that, in the world which is already very cruel and tough about everything. I don’ t really care if the actor is stuck in the same ample for many years, if he works in this ample it means that he has already became a real professional regarding it, and what can be better than watching some high quality movie?
