Appearing on ‘The Queen Latifah Show’ on Tuesday (November 26), Vince Vaughn talked about being a father and how it has affected his work.
The actor, who has a two-year-old daughter and four-month-old son, is glad he waited until he was older to have children.
He said: ”For me, I’m really tight with my family. There is something about when we were younger, we were always told you have to focus on your career and to push relationships to the side. I woke up and said, ‘Gosh, I want to have a family,’ and I got very lucky and I met someone terrific.”
Asked what kind of dad he is, Vince said: ”Well my daughter at first she was so… I could be suffocating because I love her so much, so it’s like you realise it’s kind of like a cat, you got to let them come to you, you can’t be like the over-eager dad that keeps on top of them. But as they get older, it gets more fun. There is more you can do.”
Vince also credits his children for his performance in Delivery Man. He said: ”The movie’s kind of about, as a parent, the hopes and fears you have for your kids. I think being a new dad definitely opened me up and made it very easy for me to tap into those feelings.”
It is cool to be dad at any age if you are ready for it, some men are cowards even at 50, they are afraid to take responsibility over their kids and some make great and happy dads at the age of 20. So, I believe it depends. I am a happy father of two and I am just 26 years old. So, I share the feeling Vince Vaughn is talking about.
