Will Smith won’t reprise his role in Independence Day 2. Even though he was the lead star in the original film, Smith won’t come back for the sequel, which is planned for release in July 2015.

Roland Emmerich, the director, explained: ”Will Smith cannot come back because he’s too expensive. But he’d also be too much of a marquee name. It would be too much. We have like maybe half of the people that you know would know from the first film in the script and the other half people who are new.”
