Worst celebrity autograph signers

Ringo Starr, former Beatles drummer, has made a public announcement back in 2008 that he would no longer be signing autographs. Two years later, his band mate Paul McCartney did the same. But these two are not the only celebrities who refuse to sign autographs. Check out some other stars whose signature is hard to get.

John C. Reilly

John C. Reilly almost never signs and can be quite cruel about it. Autograph Magazine quoted John as saying, “It’s a free country, and I can do what I choose. I choose not to sign.” While he was promoting Walk Hard, he actually did sign. But he only signed ‘Dewey.’

Cameron Diaz

Diaz is notoriously cagey when it comes to signing autographs. In a 2005 interview the actress reasoned that if she stops to sign for one person in the public, an entire crowd will form wanting the same. Autograph Collector Magazine has subsequently named Diaz among their worst signers several years in a row.

Will Ferrell

Back in 2007, Will Ferrell was at the top of Autograph Magazine’s list of rude celebrities who will not sign autographs. In their 2013 list, Ferrell was still at the top. If asked for an autograph, he will openly mock and insult his fans, the magazine says. “This smug, arrogant, pompous man loves to avoid his fans. Whether at a premiere, an interview, or simply walking down the street, chances are Ferrell will not oblige any autograph requests. He may even go as far as to mock and belittle the fan asking for one,” an autograph collector said.

William Shatner

William Shatner

William Shatner is not keen to hand out his autograph, as he is concerned people will sell signed memorabilia and profit from his name. According to styleblazer.com, he will only sign copies of his books. At his book signings, he’s been known to only sign one book per person, insisting he must see every person who wants his signature.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Even KidzWorld.com named her one of their worst signers. “She’s probably the snootiest of signers on this list,” says one autograph hunter. “Paltrow will try to ignore everyone as she walks by, or she’ll just pointblank tell you, in her condescending tone, ‘I do not sign autographs.’”

Bruce Willis

While he will sign autographs at red carpet events and public appearances, Bruce Willis has a reputation for being icy towards autograph seekers outside these venues. In 2006, a source reported to Autograph Collector Magazine, “Bruce won’t even look at you, and he actually seems mad that you’re bothering him.”

Tobey Maguire

'Good Morning America' Guests

Tobey Maguire is widely known for his anti-autograph tendencies. He’s one of the few on this list to refuse to sign for collectors, fans, and even children. The actor has made both Autograph Collector Magazine and Kidzworld.com’s worst celebrity signer lists.

Bill Murray

Bill Murray

Bill Murray often refuses to do autographs, mainly because he finds it a bit boring. However, he sometimes give his fans a more interesting one-on-one experience. For example, he has allowed fans to appear on film with him doing a slow motion walk, he has posed for photographs, sung in karaoke bars, and even turned up at a student party to do the washing up according to the British newspaper, The Telegraph.

As you can tell singing autographs is a hard job and not al celebrities like it. This can be cruel for their fans, but we truly live in democratic country and can choose whether to sign or not. Losing love of the fans is another story, but when you are really talented as people listed in this article, then omitting giving autographs is not the biggest sin.))
