Mark Webb’s 2009 romantic comedy drama “(500) Days of Summer” was a critical success and a sleeper hit at the box offices. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, it is a story of one young man’s failed romantic relationship, related in a non linear fashion. The story jumps back and forth throughout a 500 day long relationship between Tom Hansen (Gordon-Levitt) and Summer Finn (Deschanel). Tom is an underachieving architect working as a writer of greeting cards. He meets summer when she becomes his boss’ assistant, and the two soon start dating, despite Summer warning Tom that she doesn’t believe in true love and doesn’t need a boyfriend. After a little less than ayear, they break up and Tom falls into a months long depression. Sometime later the two meet at their co-worker’s wedding, and Summer invites Tom to a party at her place. Tom is there disappointed to see Summer ignoring him, and ultimately realizes that it is her engagement party, fleeing her apartment close to tears. Tom quits his greeting card job and rededicates himself to architecture, applying for various jobs. In one of his job interview he meets a beautiful young girl applying for the same job. He invites her for coffe and is delighted to hear that her name is Autumn.
