Phileas Fogg is a very known name in the world of inventions. That is because he was a great inventor back in 1872. That is the time when our story begins. And Phileas is just one of our main characters. The story revolves more around one of his helpers, Passepartout (Jackie Chan), who is actually someone else. He is Lau Xing, the one who had stolen a Buddha statue made out of jade in order to bring it back to his village in China. But, as everyone is on his tale, he manages to disguise and seek refuge under the wing of a pretty eccentric English inventor called Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan). As Phileas is ridiculed by his townsmen, he takes on a vaguer against one of the ministers in the city that he can travel around the world in just 80 days by using various means of transportation. So, the two of them set out on an incredible adventure. Throughout the whole journey we see Passepartout being followed constantly by one detective, not being able to shake him off of his tale. Why is the detective chasing them? Because of the case of the stolen Buddha. At one point, as they are in China, Passepartout or better to say Lau Xing takes Phileas and a young lady they encountered along the way to his village. And there is a lot more adventures to happen before they manage to fulfil the vaguer. Will they make it in time with everything that is going on along the way?
