Iranian-American director Ramin Bahrani wrote a story with Hallie Elizabeth Newton and directed a movie about most overlooked way of life. Ramin likes to tell the story about thing that made America what it is. America is made by farming families. Talented Ramin did movie “At Any Price” at extremely low budget. Family is big part of his story. Relations between son and father should not be taken lightly. Henry Whipple is running decent size family farm. He provides for the family and deals with changes of the world. Because of brutal capitalism there is new rule in the farming : get bigger, expand or die. Feeling pressure from the industry Henry starts losing his calm. His farm goes under inspection because of a mysterious tip. This situation brings Henry and his son Dean to a series of fights. Youngster has dream to race cars and doesn’t have ambition to live from land. Rebellious Dean has do deal with his problems that racing brought to him. His has girlfriend but other girls start to notice him. Boys turn in to man faster if pressure they feel is higher. Zac Efron manages to bring up transformation that his character Dean is experiencing. On other end Dennis Quaid is acting his father. Dennis presented good struggle that Henry is going through. He has obligations to his father, planes for son, huge burden because of greedy people and there is his wife. He needs to respect her needs and wishes to. “At Any Price” is 105 minutes long drama with many elements of thriller.
