Paraplegic Marine Jake Sully takes his brother's place on a mission in a distant world named Pandora. In this world he learns of a greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge and his evil intentions of driving off the native people of the planet, the "Na'vi", and mining for the precious material scattered throughout their world. Jake Sully has to gather info for the cooperating military unit in exchange for having them fix his legs, while attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. Jakes starts to bond with the native people and falls in love with a beautiful Neytiri. Merciless Colonel Quaritch moves on with his extermination tactic forcing the soldiers to fight in a battle for the fate of Pandora. James Cameron really outdid himself with this movie, the story is simple and even a cliche, but that doesn't make it bad. Avatar is known for 3D elements, and every single 3D element is done stunningly. Avatar is attack on visual senses, it looks gorgeous, beautiful and awe-inspiring. Not one 3D movie manages to do what Avatar does, it is still a benchmark when it comes to 3D visuals. The acting is pretty good, it is easy to understand the characters and cheer for them or hate them if they deserve it. Even if the premise of the movie doesn't seem attractive to you, you should check Avatar out, if nothing else but for the stunning visuals.
