What is the movie AWOL about?
“AWOL”, being a debut directorial work of Danny Mooney, based on a script by Garret K. Schiff and Jim Burnstein, presents a romantic drama film, exploring the anti-war movement during the Vietnam War time. AWOL stands for ‘Absent without Leave’ in military lingo. The story centers on a Vietnam soldier (Austin Stowell) and his best friend, also a soldier (Liam Hemsworth), who go AWOL together, hitting the roads of the United States of America, trying to track down his school girlfriend (Aimee Teegarden), when she leaves him… The release of the film in theaters is expected in the second half of 2012.
