You can assume from title Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship is independent movie. First time director Jeff Kaplan wrote story for his movie with Ian Springer. Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship is entirely filmed in New York City. Location gives unique flavour to the movie. Because we get use to hear various stories connected to Big Apple this one looks like it really happened. Jeff makes audience to ask what would they do if they were in the shoes of main character. Bert(Matt Oberg) is nice guy who doesn’t stick out. He is someone that we can relate. He loves his wife Sabrina (Anna Chlumsky) and enjoys spending his days with her. At one point Bert will discover that Arnie (Stephen Schneider) is sleeping with his loved wife Sabrina. Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship is not regular love triangle. Instead of all odds Bert and Arnie start strange friendship. That friendship makes this movie special. Keep in mind that this is comedy, not heavy drama about betrayal. Story focuses on this unlikely friendship between husband and lover of same woman. Considering that Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship is first movie for Jeff as a director overall impression is good. Mat Oberg and Stephen Schneider had a lot fun filming this film. They will make you and your friends laugh. If you are looking to relax and have casual film evening with friends Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship cold be nice choice.
