What is the movie Blackbird about?

“Blackbird” presents a drama thriller film, coming on big screens in 2012. The director of the movie is Stefan Ruzowitzky and Zach Dean is a scriptwriter. The story centers on two desperate siblings, the refugees (Olivia Wilde and Eric Bana), who cross path with a troubled former boxer (Charlie Hunnam). The tension between siblings is immense; it is an abusive relationship of a brother over his sister, treating her as his prisoner, possessing some traits of a Stockholm syndrome. The roles of boxer’s parents belong to Sissy Spacek and Kris Kristofferson. The storyline of father-daughter (performed by Treat Williams and Kate Mara) relationship interferes with the main story.

This incredible debut feature from Canadian Jason Buxton; is tense, unsettling, and unpredictably thought provoking. Purely centered on the the main character's motivations and those around him. Is he really as dangerous as he appears to be? or is it just bad luck that he's accused of the crimes he didn't never comit. It's a fascinating portrayal of youth wasted on the young and can compel any viewer who watches it. One of MIFF's Greatest Surprises!!!
