“Casino Royale” (2006) is the 21st James Bond movie, as well as the first one to feature Daniel Craig. Marking a drastic departure from the earlier Bond films both in tone and the graphic depiction of violence, it is a reboot of the franchise which sets a whole new timeline and framework separate from the previous franchise installments. It became the highest grossing film in the history of Bond series. The film is set in the early stages of Bond’s career, just as he’s become Agent 007 and just prior to receiving a license to kill. He is then sent on a mission to hunt down an international bomb maker and terrorist. He soon finds himself entangled in a much larger case, on the trail of a mysterious banker and terrorist financier Le Chiffre. The ambitious criminal has a plan in store that would bring down the stock prices of successful companies and make him and his terrorist clients enormous profits. When Bond manages to foil Le Chiffre’s plans, he finds himself heavily indebted to the terrorists and, in order to regain some of the money, he organizes a high stakes poker tournament in the Casino Royale in Montenegro. Bond enters the tournament, setting the stages for the final chapter of his showdown with Le Chiffre which has quite a few surprising twists and turns awaiting the omnipotent British secret agent.
