What is the movie Coldwater about?
Movie Cold Water is disturbing, brutal at times and shocking. This movie is one of several award winning movies that Vincent Grashaw has created. Mark Penney helped him with story and he did direction by himself. The film is, in general, a critic of youth rehabilitation camps. Cold Water points out that there is no legal control of facilities of this type nor people are trying to check what is happening with their kids. Vincent also reveals what are parents willing to do to their children in order to help them. Excessive enforcement of discipline leads to rebellion and resistance. It is not possible to justify torture as tool used for rehabilitation. Story revolves around a youngster Brad (P. J. Boudousqué) who hasn’t had much luck. After unlucky series of events he gets sent to youth rehabilitation camp that is placed in the middle of wilderness. Unprepared for that, Brad has to deal with other inmates, and brutality of camp that should not exist. This place is lead by retired marine Colonel Frank Reichert (James C. Burns). Frank is clearly not right in the head and his methods are constantly harsh and brutal at times. Frank is flat character that could be seen as symbol of oppressing government. It is interesting how young felons interact with each other, and how they form group with common interest. Movie is raw and disturbing as much as fact that things presented here are happening on daily bases.
