What is the movie Cooties about?
“Cooties” is a specialized term widely used in Australia, Canada, and the United States of America denoting a fictional childhood disease. It is some kind of a rejection term and an infection tag game. It has a counterpart in British – dreaded lurgi. It is believed that a child “catches” cooties from a person of the opposite sex of the same age or through close contact of an “infected” person. “Infected” people are those, who are perceived differently than the others – these are people of the opposite sex, shy, disabled or having particular mannerisms. The very same virus strikes an isolated elementary school and eventually transforms the kids into a feral bunch of mass savages. Clint is the main character of the movie. He is told that he is infected with cooties. He’s very unlikely to be a hero, the one that saves everybody and takes on all the responsibility. But anyway he’s the one to lead a motley band of teachers in the struggle for their survival. This movie is sure to bring you some enjoyment!

Despite its encouraging opening, Cooties ends up feeling like a missed opportunity - a joyously un-PC take on the horror comedy that tragically runs out of steam around the halfway mark.

The discordant contrast between Cooties' wacky tone and genuine threats never quite coalesce into something truly unique and special ... but it's damned entertaining to watch if nothing else.
