“Dead Man’s Burden” is the first directed movie by an experienced producer Jared Moshe. Jared also wrote the screenplay. Story is placed in New Mexico few years after the Civil War. In center of story is young family trying to survive and the mining company willing to buy their land. Back in a day laws and their Implementation were closer to the jungle than civilization. On the frontier guns were necessary and stronger usually took things he likes from the week. “Dead Man’s Burden ” is not Western movie with Clint Eastwood alternative, shooting all the competition. This is low budget, independent film. Colours of Mexican desert give soul to the movie. All characters develop nicely throughout the movie. Jared managed place plenty of details so audience can piece the puzzle with great resolution. Secrets shootouts and struggle of the family change each other in cleverly planed order. Clare Bowen did more than good acting bring character Martha Kirkland to life. Rest of the crew Barlow Jacobs, Joseph Lyle Taylor, David Call, Richard Riehle and Jerry Clarke took their characters from two dimensions and gave them depth to some point. Every character got his place in the story and time to develop. Being low budget movie and Jared’s first directed achievement “Dead Man’s Burden” has some inconsistencies. Anyway that small irregularities are not big deal and they don’t effect the story.
