Devil's Knot is a recent biographical crime-drama directed by Atom Egoyan. The movie is based on a true story that once struck a quiet society of Arkansas. The story was taken as a basis for a book also called “Devil's Knot” by Mara Leveritt. The movie is set in 199, in a small middle class community of West Memphis, Arkansas where the real story has taken place. The whole town is worried because three eight-year-old boys are missing from their neighborhood. After a certain time and an extensive search all the three of them, Christopher Byers, Stevie Branch and Michael Moore, are found beaten and tied up. They are killed violently. The police department and the community are convinced that the murders are the work of some satanic cult because of the sexual and violent natures of the crime. After a month of thorough investigation three teenagers are arrested on suspicion of murder. One of the teenagers, Jessie Misskelley Jr. confesses after being interrogated for approximately 4 hours. All the three are taken to trial and sentenced to life and Echols to death. It is worth noting that they are still claiming they’re innocent.
