When Joe Norman (Rafe Spall) was eleven years old, his dying father told him that he is an alien. He told him specific details of his origin. He told to Joe that he is last live member of royal family from planet Zalaxon. His family had to leave home planet because of violent occupation. In order to have offspring, he has to find an appropriate female. For this purpose he has gadget that measures compatibility with nearby women. Joe communicates with artificial projection of his father via holograph. He received instructions not to reveal his identity to anyone. At this time he has grown up. Very asocial, nerdy and not interested in hanging with people, Joe runs comic shop that has strictly male customers. When blonde Maria (Jenn Murray) walks in to the comic store compatibility meter will show high value. Because of this Joe starts having interest in her.
