We all fondly remember the original Easy Rider by Peter Fonda. Easy Rider: The Ride Back comes out a few decades later and the story centers around the Williams family and their internal struggles throughout the 40s up till the present day. They struggle to connect with each other in the only way they know, the love of motorcycles and the freedom of the ride. The movie explains how Wyatt and Billy ended up on the road in the first place. Every character is dissected and re-introduced from their childhood on up. Locations and sets are well developed and they look gorgeous on the screen. Lots of time and energy went in to this movie, it was hard to recreate 70 years of historical time-line locations, but in the end it was worth it. There are as many as 10 characters in the movie, each with their own story, motives and morals, it is pretty interesting to see them all develop and to see how they end up. If you are a fan of the original Easy Rider, you should check this out, but keep an open mind, it might not be what you've been expecting, but the same can be said about any similar project. It doesn't mean that the movie is bad, it only means that it may not live up to the expectations. With that said, it should definitely be checked out by anyone who loves the road and the freedom it represents.
