People often fantasize about a world they don't have, even if that means that the conditions and rules are a lot more strict than they are now. It might not be the perfect world, but it is always interesting for the people, only because it's something new. This movie presents one of the possible realities. Coming from the mind and directing skills of Kurt Wimmer, film Equilibrium shows a kind of futuristic world that is based on the facts and results only. There are no emotions and art, music and books are all forbidden. Having feelings for something is a crime that is punished by death. There are also clerics who are skilled warriors, but their cause is to suppress those who are rebelling against the government and that kind of living, as well as to keep everything in their utopia. One of those clerics is John Preston (Christian Bale). He is one of the high ranked ones and is totally devoted to living that kind of life. After getting one of his partners sentenced to death, as well as his own wife, for the crime of feeling, he accidentally skips one dose of the medication called Prozium, which hinders the emotions. From that point on, he starts feeling and seeing how it is to feel. His world suddenly turns upside down and he finds himself in the position joining the rebellions and fighting against that kind of government and the way of life.
