We have seen low budget horror movies many times. They are scary but something always lacks because directors have to compensate for low budget. Because of this, the recipe for good scary horror is boiled many times and today we now it very good. Old wooden house in the woods, heavy rain, noises, and demonic creatures are something that always works. Difference in ingredients between all god horrors with low budget and Evil Dead are small. What sets Evil Dead a part from the others is budget estimated around seventeen millions. This gave opportunity to director Fede Alvarez to incorporate some effects and to play with realization of the story to the fullest. He used all mentioned elements and made them even better. Timing of events and pace of the story are crucial for impression that movie leaves on the audience. Story is straight forward. Friends go to cabin in the woods. They find old book of dead, and as curiosity killed the cat, in this case curiosity killed some people. They read some passages from the book and unleashed demons from nearby woods. Demons posses them and play with them in bizarre game of death. There is only one left to fight for survival. Actors did decent acting and managed to deliver fear and despair to the audience. Movie is done based on more than thirty years old already seen story. With budget that is much bigger than similar movies have, yet much smaller than the average Hollywood movie, Evil Dead from 2013 is great achievement of talented director Fede Alvarez.
