The fifth installment of the “Fast and the Furious” franchise, “Fast Five” was again directed by Justin Lin, who had also directed the previous two sequels. Transitioning from its obsession with race cars and street racing to the action/heist movie genre, nit was an enormous financial success, becoming the highest grossing movie of the franchise (only to be surpassed by the following sequel “Fast & Furious 6”) and comfortably making it onto the list of 100 highest grossing films of all time. It follows the story of Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) and her boyfriend Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) as they attempt to rob a South American crime lord of his 100 million dollar wealth. As Dom is being transported to a prison, his bus is attacked by Mia and Brian and Dom is rescued. The three of them flee to Rio de Janeiro where they are joined by the rest of their crew. Their plan to steal two luxury cars off a train goes horribly wrong when it turns out one of them belongs to crime lord Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), who desperately wants it back. At the same time, Dom and the gang are being hunted by DSS agents Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky). When members of both Dom’s team and the DSS are killed in an altercation with Reyes’ gang members, the two teams join forces to avenge the deaths of their comrades and rob Reyes of a 100 million dollars held in a Brazilian police station.
