Imagine if you discovered a secret treasure buried in the seas for decades and centuries. You can almost be sure that Benjamin Finnegan has found it first. Benjamin Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey) is one of the best treasure hunters in the whole world. He just has the nose for it. And you would expect that he is wealthy and has a lot of money until now. Well, that is where you're wrong again. He is the type that likes living his life to the fullest. Unfortunately, he is going through a divorce with his wife Tess (Kate Hudson), who was also his partner in searching for the treasure back in the days. And Ben is in great debt to a local rap star, who also happens to own Key West. And it is more than just a fate that Ben tracks down treasure that he believes is Spanish treasure buried in the deep sea for centuries and is worth more that anyone could imagine. But, there are lots of problems to this search. Ben is broke. First he must find a sponsor, who happens to be a multimillionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland), on whose yacht Tess works as a stewardess. Now, Ben has to convince him to sponsor his search, convince Tess to work with him and one more thing- after the rapper hires another treasure hunter, Ben must find a way to keep him and his crew in the bay.
