What is the movie Frankenweenie about?
“Frankenweenie” represents a Walt Disney’s 3D black and white stop motion movie that is actually a remake of the 1984 homonymous movie by Tim Burton. Victor is a boy who makes his own home-made monster films, and his pet dog Sparky stars in them. When Sparky dies, being killed by a car, in his deep grief, Victor takes a decision to bring his favorite pet to life, using the only way he is aware of. However, Sparky’s monstrous appearance causes far and terror in Victor’s neighbors’ hearts. Now, Victor has to put all his forces into convicting them that despite his ‘monster’ look, Sparky is the same friendly, kind, loyal dog they knew before…

As soon as i saw the cartoon i decided to write a review in order to share my overwhelming impressions! I can say that Burton is a real professional and he really can do some great kind cartoons, and maybe their theme is a bit cemetery one, but he knows the limit line between trash and a really good stuff! This is a story of friendship between a dog and a boy, and it is shown so easy but at the same time cute and very spiritually! I think the boy Victor looks very much alike Victor from the “Body of dead bride”, but the dog sparky looks more alive than anyone else in all the senses of this word, and it is fun watching him doing all the funny and mischievous things! Victor’s classmates and parents were also the characters i will keep in my mind for long time! I think the main subject that this cartoon was delivering, is that everything you do, you need to do with love and only this way you will get a positive result! The greed and silly curiosity will not bring you to anything good! I advise parents to watch it with their children which are not younger than ten years old ( otherwise they will not get it).

If trying to somehow describe this cartoon i would say that it has soul! Soul that Tim Burton has put into it and its main characters- the boy Victor and his dog Sparky! The boy didn’t had any friends but he had a favorite dog with who he is spending all the time. It was so touching to see how together they were filming a movie in which Sparky is a hero who saves people from a monster. And how Victor after his friend Sparky has died was watching over and over again those happy moments of their lives!
Their true friendship and emotional link was pictured in front of typical for Burton dark atmosphere plus it is a cartoon made in white and black colors. But this is a plus that underlines one more time how precious is the gift of having a friend! And i doesn’t matter whether it is a dog or person, the most important thing he is always with you. This cartoon is wonderful! And its morality is “you cannot lose someone you really love”!

Some time ago i sadly realizes that i cannot wait for something special from the new movies by Burton, mostly those are pleasant and beautiful movies which are easy to watch, but only once per lifetime. Frankenweenie also is one of those works.
I can that the unique and legendary style of the author was set in this cartoon on the maximum possible level! After the first few minutes of watching it, i got the feeling that i am watching one of the early Burton’s works. I think with his experience and skills he could have done something a lot better than that, but probably he didn’t really needed that, and it is pretty obvious for me this fact.
So my conclusion is that Frankenweenie is a light and beautiful cartoon which is very pleasant and interesting to watch with all family in the cinema. And it doesn’t really matter whether to watch it in the 3D or not, it is equally interesting.
