Whoever heard of that old song "Frankie and Johnny" is going to be thrilled with this movie. The main theme of this story is exactly one couple, Frankie (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Johnny (Al Pacino).. except they aren't a couple.. yet. Frankie works in a café/ restaurant and she is a waitress. And most of all, Frankie is a loner when it comes to relationships. On the other hand, there is Johnny, who has recently gotten out of prison. He is divorced and his ex wife has moved on with their kids. After he gets a job at the café where Frankie works, his heart just stops when he sees her for the first time. So, he decides to make a move and asks her out one day, but reluctant to dating Frankie refuses him. That would discourage lots of men, but Johnny is another story. That reaction makes him want her even more and try even harder in order to get that date with her. And he isn't about to stop at that, it is only the beginning of what he has in mind. As he says in one scene: "I think we should be married, have kids". But, with Frankie being pretty stubborn, he is to find out what keeps her from opening her heart to him, and that is one pretty hard story.
