From the mind of creative writer and skilled director Nicole Holofcener comes a movie that reveals a part of whole bunch of situations that occur when someone has financial difficulties, while the friends don't. It all starts as Olivia, who was a teacher. After quitting that job, she finds herself in a situation she isn't accustomed to. Now she works as a maid and isn't as wealthy as she used to be. And there are her three best friends, who are all married and rich. Franny and her husband are rich and happy, Christine and her husband are sometimes fighting, Jane is always angry at her man. So, they occasionally meet and talk about everything they can think of, which now becomes even more difficult, since three of them still solve things by paying a bit more and Olivia is still learning how to pay for everything with not so much money. After a while, Fanny sets Olivia up a date with one of her friends, Mike (Scott Caan), who is a personal trainer, who seems to be a nice guy, with strange fantasies when he sees her in maid uniform. And as Olivia tries to get through everything that life throws at her, there is a line that must never be crossed.
