We all know who Vanessa Hudgens is. And we have all seen her as a cute dark haired princess, maybe a bit superficial and stiff, always in the roles of some rich and cute daddies girls, like in "The High School Musical". But, here she is, in a totally different light, showing everyone that she's one hell of an actress and that she can play a damaged girl who had spend her life living with drug addict mom and in tough circumstances. The movie we're talking about here is the drama "Gimme Shelter", that has been released in October 2013. Her character, Apple is a 16 year old girl, who lives with her drug addict mother, played by Rosario Dawson, in a rough neighbourhood. And the only thing she wants is to find her father, played by Brendan Fraser, and have a normal life, not being forced to move from one foster home to another every time her mother gets arrested. After she finally finds him and he takes her in, she finds out that she's pregnant. Because of her decision to give a birth to that child, she gets kicked out of his house and is forced to search for some kind of shelter, which she does towards the end of the movie. It is pretty amazing to see Vanessa transform from a "high school teenage musical" type of character to a street raised girl with dirt and short hair that has more than serious problems in her life.
