What do you do when you need to build up someone's moral while the war is raging? Simple- you make them laugh. That was the most famous thing, but not before Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams) did that. From the brilliant mind of Mitch Markowitz, who wrote the story for the film, and directing hand of Barry Levinson, comes an excellent movie called Good Morning, Vietnam. The plot is placed in 1965 as the USA is having to deal with the crisis in Vietnam. One of the main characters is Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams), a middle aged airman. He gets deployed to Vietnam, but with a pretty unusual assignment- to keep the troops' morale high and their spirit up. As soon as he gets his seat behind the microphone, Adrian gives his best to make an interesting show for his listeners. That included loud and long greeting "Gooooood moooooorning, Vietnam!", which became his trademark after a while. Other than that, there were also lots of impersonations, strange noises and sounds as well as good rock music to mix it all up really good. Because of his out of the box style of running the show he started having problems with his superiors, but was one of the rare people that could bring the smile to the faces of both civilians as well as soldiers at that period of time.
