The year is 1958 in the city of Los Angeles. Story follows more than one person. First, there is a detective Felix (Rufus Sewell), who is working undercover and lurking, waiting for the criminals to take the bait and come. Then, there is a handsome blonde passionate dancer, Swedish Mary (Malin Akerman), who seduces the detective and he falls in love with her. Next, there is a fabulous brunette singer, who is in a relationship with a gambler. Then, we have the maid, Sevilla (Rosario Dawson), who seems to be working all the time. And when you get all of these stories crossed one with another, and add some money stealing, deceiving, and romance in the mix you get a hell of a story that is amazingly captivating. The whole movie is shot in black and white, to give the atmosphere a vintage feel. Their dialogues are stylized as well as their costumes, hairstyles and everything else. The acting crew did an amazing job and gave an amazing performance. It really takes you back to the time of the plot. Maybe, because of the vintage feel to it and noir elements in the movie, many people might not like it, but it deserves to be watched more than just once, because it is one of those pretty vintage detective movies, in which you don’t know who the criminal is until the end of it and you can’t even assume.
