What is the movie I Used to Be Darker about?
Matthew Porterfield obviously thought that Maryland was a good place to film some parts of "I Used to Be Darker", so he did it there, as well as In Baltimore and USA. The movie is about a Northern Irish girl, Taryn who got into a trouble and was looking for a way out of it. Kim and Bill, her aunt and uncle were people she hoped to stay with, but during her visit, she found out that their situation is very bad. They were trying to handle a potential divorce and doing their best not to stress their daughter, Abby. This movie is an independent drama and Matthew's third film, and the interesting detail is that he was raising money for it, via Kickstarter. Eventually, he got what he needed. Taryn, played by Deragh Campbell thought that her problems were bad, but then she stumbled upon way bigger ones, with people she wanted to ask for help. An unusual turnout of events for young lady that she had to handle in the best way she could. Hannah Gross played Abby, Ned Oldham appeared as Bill and Kim Taylor as Kim. The whole family was trying to handle a new situation, searching for love between each other and trying to see what works for them and what not. So, it is a question- did they end up their marriage, or they found a way to handle their struggles in the best possible way for all of them? Matthew Porterfield gave his answer in a form of a movie.
