How to Treat a Celebrity You're Dating

What is the movie If I Were You about?
When a wife meets her husbands girlfriend, what could possibly go wrong? Right? This is the movie that deals with wives and girlfriends, and it's called If I were you. The focus of the story are two ladies- Madelyn (Marcia Gay Harden), who is a wife, mother and just an everyday middle-aged woman, and Lucy (Leonor Watling), who is a young actress and her husbands girlfriend as well. It all starts as Madelyn follows her husband, suspecting he is cheating on her and catches him in action, during dinner with Lucy. During that dinner, she notices they have a fight and decides to follow obviously suicidal Lucy to her apartment. She tries to console her and from that point on, two of them form an unusual friendship and a bond, by helping each other with their problems. As she gets a few tips on how to get her man jealous from Lucy, who doesn't realize that Madelyn is her lovers wife, Madelyn does everything right. At one point, unplanned, Madelyn really slips into an affair with a man whose father was in nursery home as her mother. And just to make things even more comic and complicated, Madelyn gets invited to play the main role in The King Lear show, which gives both women self-esteem boost and they both end up in growing stronger and getting from life what they want, not that what is offered.
