In the third installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, the world’s most famous archeologist adventurer has to track down his father who has gone missing following the trail of the mysterious Holy Grail. Indy learns the news from Walter Donovan, an American businessman feigning desire to help. Indy receives his father’s diary on the Holy Grail through mail from Venice, and realizing that his father wouldn’t have sent it to him if he wasn’t in serious trouble, he sets off to find him. In Venice he is met by her father’s colleague Elsa Schneider. Indy and Elsa manage to find a hidden crypt of the first crusader with the inscription on the tomb giving directions to the location of the Holy Grail, but they are soon attacked by the secret society that protects the grail from falling into the wrong hands. They capture the leader of the society and assure him that they only want to find Indy’s father, and he lets them know that Henry Jones was kidnapped and taken to a castle in Austria. Indy manages to rescue his father, who informs him that Elsa and Donovan are actually Nazis who were using him to find the Grail. A frantic race towards the location of the Grail ensues, but the path to the Grail is covered with booby traps. Henry Jones is shot dead, and Indy has to find the grail so he could bring him back to life. Elsa escapes with the Grail, which causes the temple to collapse, and she falls into the abyss after she can’t let go of her lifelong obsession.
