Meet Truman Capote (Toby Jones). He is a famous writer and he is working on his new novel called In Cold Blood. And on his search for the material for writing, he stumbles across an article about a massive slaughter in Kansas City. And the whole story is set in 1959. One of the main characters of the Capote's book is Perry Smith, who was described in the piece as both tender and terrible. After a family has been killed in Kansas in the end of the 50's, Capote has been obsessed with that crime. Two amateur criminals that begun the murder, have gotten away totally empty handed. After Capote gets a chance to get to know one of them, he uses his charm, which usually does its magic in the society to find out about new gossips and spread the rumours further, to get his way into the prison cell and get an exclusive interview, which will get him the half of his story for In Cold Blood. As he comes to Kansas to investigate the case himself, Capote brings one of his friends, Nelle Harper Lee (Sandra Bullock). But, still, things don't go too smooth. Step by step and Capote manages to gain the trust of one of the killers, Perry Smith (Daniel Craig). As he gets closer to Perry, Capote also gets attached to him and form an unusual bond with him. And in order to publish his book, he must wait after the prisoner is executed.
